Mount Bromo in The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park is unique because it has 5.250 hectares of sea of sand area (Javanese: Segara Wedi or Indonesian: Lautan Pasir) at an altitude of 2.392 meters above the sea level. All of those things are thrown into the crater of the volcano as offerings to Gods.
The temperature at Mount Bromo is within a range from 3°-20° Celsius, but it can be several degrees below zero during the dry season. You should bring a jacket, gloves, and hat. To reach Mount Bromo, you can take a flight to Juanda International Airport in Surabaya. From the airport, you can continue your journey to Mount Bromo using a travel agent. The trip usually takes 2 to 3 hours. In order to arrive on time to see the sunrise, you should make a precise time calculation, or you can stay at one of the hotels in Prigen, Tretes. You need to make sure that you are on the slopes of the crater before sunrise.
