Boulder's 'Glass House' Offers Crystal-Clear Views for $13M

Posted on 28/12/2023 by Iqbal Nugroho

A mansion known as the “Glass House,” in Boulder, CO, delivers crystal-clear Rocky Mountain views.

Built in 2008, the four-level masterpiece has hit the market for a whopping $12,995,000.

“The No. 1 feature of this home is the setting—sitting on a hill overlooking Boulder, offering incredible views to the west and to the east,” says Hunter Jorgensen of Compass, who is co-listing the property with The Patrick Brown Group.

And next on the long list of selling points? That would be the property’s luxe materials and impeccable construction.

‘so unique’

The five-bedroom house features an open floor plan filled with Honduran mahogany, soaring ceilings, and spectacular glass walls.

Other luxury components include radiant floors, four fireplaces, a four-season greenhouse, and lots of terraces.

“The four-level structure features a glass facade made of Pilkington glass,” Jorgensen says. “It is one of only a few homes in the country to feature this glass, which makes it so unique.”

The house also includes a rare variety of stone that isn’t often used in residential construction.

Plus, as you might expect, it’s absolutely a smart home.

“You can manage everything from the lights and shades to the HVAC and even control the music,” says Jorgensen of the property’s remote access capabilities.

Views inside and out

The 11,156-square-foot house is bordered by Chautauqua Park and framed by the Boulder Flatirons—a range of striking rock formations.

“You can take in views of that iconic red-stone Boulder backdrop directly from the house,” notes Jorgensen.

And there’s even an eye-popping natural element in the home: a stone monolith with a water feature spanning the length of the kitchen and dining area.

“It’s a beautiful sculpture-like stone inside that was craned into the kitchen and sort of anchors the house,” Jorgensen explains.

Getting around the sprawling home is made easier with its three-story elevator. You can even take it to the lower-level theater.

Want some exercises? Head for the floating glass staircase—above a koi pond, no less—that goes up to the spectacular primary suite.

The lavish suite also has elevator access and includes a “glass-walled sitting room, private patio, and marble-clad bath with soaking tub,” the listing states.

The lot is a bit larger than an acre and boasts a two-story guesthouse with a private deck and attached garage.

“This is truly a one-of-a-kind property, so the next owner will definitely care about the home’s architecturally unique features and significance,” Jorgensen says. “It could be used as either a primary or secondary home, as well. Boulder has become known as being a bit of a magnet for people who come here to visit and generally stay. It attracts people who want to live an active lifestyle.”

Demand for luxury real estate has risen in Boulder as companies in the technology, aerospace, life science, and venture capital spaces are increasingly setting up shop in the striking mountain town.
