Long-time Lacombe realtor to chair local Realtors association

A Lacombe Realtor with 30 years of experience will head the Central Alberta Realtors Association this year.

Michael Gouchie, who has been the broker for Royal LePage Lifestyles Realty since 2000 along with his wife Sandi, officially began his one-year term as CARA chair on Jan. 1.

Gouchie grew up in Grande Prairie and came to central Alberta to play hockey with Maskwacis’s Hobbema Hawks and then for Red Deer College, where he studied psychology, finishing his degree at the University of Alberta.

He returned to central Alberta to work as a youth worker and counselor at the Red Deer Remand Center before making a career change in 1993 and following his father into the real estate business.

He launched his first brokerage in 1996 before joining Royal LePage Lifestyles Realty.

His past experience includes three other stints on CARA’s board as chair of its professional standards committee and eight years with the provincial Real Estate Insurance Exchange. He is also serving on the Alberta Real Estate Association’s professional standards committee.

“I believe most realtors are service oriented and both Sandi and I really enjoy helping people find the right fit for them when buying or selling a property,” said Gouchie in a statement. “Whether helping the new young couple find their first home or investors adding to their portfolio we really enjoy being part of that journey.”

CARA is a Multiple Listing Service co-operative representing about 500 area Realtors.
